I'm just over 50 and have developed this large flap of skin under my chin. I don't have any fat there as far as I can tell and my face itself doesn't seem to be aging as badly as my neck. Is there anything I can do to fix this? It just seems to be this loose flap of skin that hangs under my chin. I'm in an industry where I often have my photo taken, so It's very embarrassing. Thank you in advance.
Answer: Sometimes surgery is the only answer There are great tech options for firming loose skin, but they can only go so far.See a plastic surgeon, as most any non surgical treatment simply can't promise what you'd like to achieve. A good surgeon can offer options and nearly invisible scar placement. As much as we'd all like to find the non surgical procedure that duplicates surgery, as yet it doesn't exist - though some treatments make remarkable improvements.Do some investigation into a board certified plastic surgeon who has sufficient experience with surgical procedures for men.

Answer: Loose skin under chin. Treatment without scar? Dear Anon, You are a candidate for MyEllevate. This is a non-incision suture-suspension neck lift that uses a suture to pull the loose skin up into the cervicomental angle. It also cuts the medial border of the platysma where bands may be visible. The skin is treated with laser under the dermis to help induce contraction that goes on over the next six months. While there may still be a bit of laxity left under your chin, the webbed appearance that goes from the chin down to the thyroid cartilage should be largely corrected. You can see a lot of images of this by searching for "MyEllevate before and afters". There are animations that show how the procedure is done. MyEllevate is a non-incision suture-suspension neck lift. It is usually accompanied with Precision laser skin tightening, and if there is a component of excess fat, then, in addition, liposuction is done. The procedure is not the equivalent of a surgical face and neck lift, but can give improvement of the cervicomental angle more than can sometimes be obtained with liposuction with or without laser skin tightening alone. Greater and lesser degrees of neck laxity will influence how much improvement is obtained. The main criterion for a good outcome is how much skin laxity there is, and this is often associated with aging. So, patients who have less laxity to begin with look tighter and have a better neck angle and appearance, than patients who are getting jowls and have more laxity. The procedure is done with local anesthesia in the office operating room. After surgery, there is an anterior neck dressing held in place by a Velcro head wrap. This wrap is left on for three days. Also, a cervical collar is worn during that time, as a reminder to keep the chin up, and worn for another week whenever there may be a tendency to look down, as in reading and eating. A feeling of tightness usually lasts about two weeks. Progressive skin tightening and smoothing of the skin occurs over the next several weeks, with skin tightening continuing for six months.

Answer: Neck lift An exam is needed to know for sure but you will likely have the best outcome from a surgical neck lift. Depending on the degree of laxity you may have improvement with FaceTite which is a minimally invasive procedure to tighten skin. It does not require general anesthesia. See a board certified plastic surgeon near you to learn more.

Answer: A great option for tightening the skin would be doing morpheus8 Morpheus 8 is a non-invasive skin and soft tissue tightening treatment that is consistently amazing in our patients. We use the Morpheus to exact fractional induced RF into the skin or tissue in order to tighten collagen and stimulate contraction of the tissue. For acne scars, it is quite useful to build collagen in patients who have atrophic scars but is not very productive for ice-pick scars which require TCA Cross. For tissue tightening, Morpheus is ideal for the face and neck and we often combine it with CO2 laser or Ultherapy to further enhance results. Chemical peels and skin resurfacing should be done at least 5 to 7 days after, but can be performed earlier, depending on treatment severity. Avoid exfoliating skin treatments before Morpheus and expect a period of 2-4 weeks for skin contraction to set in. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon

Answer: Great Necklift Canidate Thank you for your question, you are an excellent candidate for Necklift with that being said you will have very small incisions behind the ear lobe that are very thin and hidden behind the ear lobes. The only way to get ride of that loose sagging skin is by removing it. You will still have a natural look but the jowls and neck will be smoother and tighter. I hope that was helpful,Dr Pryor
