Alarplasty Swelling - Should the rim drop or lift with time?

I had a alarplasty to reduce both the width and flare of my nostrils. , the nostrils at the moment are still swollen to the touch but once the swelling goes down should the rim on the nostrils fall or lift?

It does not look infected at the moment.  I would recommend applying an antibiotic ointment regularly to help the skin heal and the crusting resolve faster.

From the photos, you are a good candidate to make your nose more narrow. I don't know if it can ever be pointed because your skin is a bit thick, but a nice, natural improvement should be able to be made. Be sure to see a rhinoplasty specialist for consultation. The price usually varies between...

Its best to let it heal.  Assess the result in a few months and then determine if any revision procedure is required.  Revision alar plasty and dermabrasion can be done if needed to improve results if needed.

Dear Hanifa26,It is still early in your healing process to tell how your nose will turn out. There is still a lot of swelling 7 weeks post-op.It can take 6-12 months to fully heal from a rhinoplasty so patience is key.Best regards,Nima Shemirani

Alarplasty or alar base reduction is a very rewarding but technically challenging procedure. You have to be careful to not overdo it as it is irreversible. RegardsDr. J
