I had a breast reduction in February this year and had about 300-400 gram removed in total. However, my breast feel bigger and quite sore (I haven’t gained weight either), so I’m wondering if I could be experiencing swelling from periods/ovulation a lot more severely compared to before? Thank you in advance!
Answer: Breasts feel swollen Dear Nurturing389145, I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what went wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice. Answer: Sore breasts If the soreness you are experiencing coincides with your menstruation cycle it is probably related to that. If it doesn't correlate to that time then I encourage you to visit with your surgeon for an evaluation. In either case, be sure to keep up with your regular exams as recommended by your OB/gyn or whoever you see for breast health.

Answer: Breasts feel swollen 5 months post reduction. Could I be experiencing swelling from periods more severely than before? Swelling and discomfort in the breasts can have various causes, and it's important to consult a healthcare professional for accurate advice tailored to your situation. That being said, here are a few potential reasons for the symptoms you're experiencing: 1.) Hormonal Changes: Hormonal fluctuations, such as those that occur during your menstrual cycle, can lead to breast tenderness and swelling. It's possible that your body's response to hormonal changes has shifted since your reduction surgery, causing you to experience these symptoms more severely. 2.) Post-Surgery Healing: Breast reduction surgery involves reshaping the breast tissue, and it can take several months for the breasts to fully heal and for swelling to completely subside. It's possible that the feeling of swelling you're experiencing is related to the ongoing healing process from the surgery. 3.) Cyclical Changes: As you mentioned, you might be experiencing swelling more severely during your menstrual periods. Some individuals are more sensitive to hormonal changes during their menstrual cycles, which can result in increased breast swelling, tenderness, and discomfort. 4.) Infection or Complications: While less common, post-surgical complications, such as infection or fluid accumulation, could also contribute to feelings of swelling or discomfort. If you notice any unusual changes in your breasts, it's important to consult your surgeon or a medical professional for a proper evaluation. 5.) Lifestyle Factors: Changes in diet, exercise, or other lifestyle factors could potentially affect how your body responds to hormonal fluctuations and contribute to feelings of swelling. To get a clear understanding of what might be causing your symptoms, it's best to reach out to your surgeon or a healthcare provider who can examine you, consider your medical history, and provide personalized advice. If you're concerned about the severity of the symptoms or if they are accompanied by other concerning symptoms, seek medical attention promptly.
