Hello.....In reference to the harvest of ear conchal bowl cartilage for use as a nose tip graft in rhinoplasty, how much of this cartilage is typically removed? Is the entire upper portion of the bowl removed for the nose tip graft, or is it commonplace to preserve a portion of the upper bowl while removing only a thin layer that is needed? What is the usual amount removed? I do not want to be missing my entire upper cartilage bowl as a result. Thank you....Connie

Answer: Concha cavum and sometimes concha cymba grafts are needed.
I can see by your up close photo that you have an indent involving your left nasal tip along with retraction of your left nostril margin. Depending on your examination, microdroplet Silikon-1000 nasal injections maybe considered for restoring lost volume and for improving upon your tip symmetry....
Go see an ENT doctor to try to figure out what is causing your problems. If it is just the septum, you can get a septoplasty without having it be a "2nd" rhinoplasty because those are two distinct procedures. However, there is the possibility that the rhinoplasty worsened some of your breathing,...
In order to permanently rotate a nasal tip appearance upward, it would require exposure of the nasal tip cartilages along with nasal tip reconstruction. In our experience, procedures like this may not be performed with local anesthetic. Thank you for your question. Sincerely, Dr Joseph
