How much conchal cartilage is typically removed/needed for a nose tip graft?

Asked By:Nasty Nose Illinois in Alton, Illinois

Hello.....In reference to the harvest of ear conchal bowl cartilage for use as a nose tip graft in rhinoplasty, how much of this cartilage is typically removed? Is the entire upper portion of the bowl removed for the nose tip graft, or is it commonplace to preserve a portion of the upper bowl while removing only a thin layer that is needed? What is the usual amount removed? I do not want to be missing my entire upper cartilage bowl as a result. Thank you....Connie
