The vast majority of tummy tucks are performed as outpatient surgery, it would be very rare to stay overnight following that particular procedure. As for clinic vs. hospital you are quite safe in a clinic and personally I would choose to have surgery in a private clinic over a hospital any day. The environment is much more geared for aesthetic patients rather than the hospital where the focus is on just pumping as many patients through per day as possible. You'll wake up from surgery privately in a quiet environment rather than a busy hospital PACU where there are dozens of patients making a lot of noise. There are also superbugs all over the hospital that will not be present in the private clinic. Hope that helps!
If you are only having a tummy tuck and not a mommy makeover it is safe to go home the same day and have your surgery in a private surgery center. Find out if the surgery center is accredited, and it may be safer than a hospital where you have less chance of exposure to infections. Be sure to see a board certified plastic surgeon. Good luck.
Hello,This is a good question. All of my patients go home the same day following abdominoplasty. It is safe and you do not need to be kept overnight. You should have somebody home with you to spend the night and assist with your needs around the house. It is far more comfortable to rest and recover at home than in a clinic/hospital!
Most tummy tucks these days are safely performed on an outpatient basis, which means no overnight stay is involved. This is true whether you have your surgery performed at a hospital or private surgical facility. In some cases, particularly for patients who are at a higher risk of developing complications, an overnight stay may be recommended. I suggest you speak with your surgeon to find out what they recommend for you.
In an otherwise healthy patient having a tummy tuck as an outpatient is very reasonable. Discuss your concerns with your surgeon prior to your surgery and he or she will be able to review with you their experience and set your mind at ease before your big day!
It is safe to have a tummy tuck as an outpatient procedure, provided that the procedure is done by a board-certified plastic surgeon in an accredited facility. Of course every patient is different and your surgeon will make assessments based on your medical history and risks. Best wishes.
If you have obtained clearance from your PCP and any other physicians who are treating you, the TT should not trigger complications that may need hospital facilities. If the private clinic is accredited with the Institute for Medical Quality or an equivalent agency and meets or exceeds all standards, pays meticulous attention to details, patient safety, and infection control, the PS is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and has performed thousands of abdominal procedures with favorable outcomes, and his/her staff are all experienced and highly skilled to manage emergency and critical care situations, you should feel comfortable having your surgery performed there. Thank you for your question. You bring up a good point regarding safety. It is generally safe for a healthy patient to have surgery in a private, accredited surgery suite and go home the same day. Times when I would consider having a patient spend the night include a longer surgery (>6-7 hours), or patients with underlying medical conditions that might better be observed in an inpatient setting. Best to talk with your surgeon regarding your concerns. Good luck.
For the majority of patients it is safe to have a tummy tuck in an accredited facility and go home the same day. You should have a capable adult stay with you overnight and know any "red flags" to be aware of until you are scheduled for your first follow up. For some patients it's recommended they stay overnight for safety and observation. Your surgeon will let you know what is best for you.
Thank you for your question. If it is accredited facility it is OK to have TT and can go home if your health is good. Your safety is really important and make sure you go with a board certified PS
Many women claim improvement with back symptoms after abdominoplasty. This can be explained by the reestablishment of balance in supporting the torso with the abdominal muscles restored to their proper position. However, these remain subjective improvements and I would never promise symptomatic...
