Should I change the binder if I am bleeding?

I had tummy tuck and lipo today. I am bleeding from the back which has bled through the binder. Should I change the binder ot leave it on for the 24-48 hrs they recommend. And at what point should I go into emergency? It's been about 12 hrs since the surgery.

If you have blood enough to soak through your dressing you need to report this to your surgeon.If liposuction was an adjunct often times it's the tumescent fluid that's draining not blood.

It is normal to drain the tumescent fluid for up to 48 hours post-liposuction.  The fluid would most likely look like watered down blood.  For your own convenience, I would wait until you stop draining fluid to wash your garment; however, there shouldn't be any problem with washing it sooner.  If you feel the fluid is actually bleeding and not tumescent solution, you should call your surgeon to check.

Hello and thank you for reaching out. Bleeding is very common after an area has had liposuction, and also common for the blood to bleed through the garment. Continue to follow all instructions from your surgeon, especially the time the binder is to be worn for the first couple of days. If the amount of blood on your garment is alarmed, please touch base with your surgeon PRIOR to going to the emergency room. There is a high chance what you are experiencing is completely normal.
