I had a full TT with lipo yesterday. When I go to the bathroom, I urinate in a trickle, and it feels like I still need to go even after I finally do all that I can. I don't think I could have a UTI since I'm on an antibiotic, could I? Is the binder causing the feeling? Should I remove the binder and try to go? Thoughts? (I do have a call into my PS as well) Thanks.
Answer: Post op care after tummy tuck You should find out if you had a urinary catheter placed during surgery. Sometimes that can lead to some difficulties urinating, but these usually resolve on their own. If you have any real difficulty, you should definitely follow up with your plastic surgeon as soon as possible. Good luck!

Answer: Why is it difficult to urinate after my Tummy tuck? Thank you for your question. At times due to anesthesia and placement of a urinary catheter patients will be unable to void normally after surgery. In most cases this urinary retention resolves spontaneously with time, but it is important that you contact your surgeon about this.

Answer: Urinating after Tummy Tuck Dear FionaDennis, Thank you for your question. There a few reasons why you may have difficulty urinating. I'm glad you have called your surgeon, be sure to follow up with them and see what their recommendation is. Our patients sometimes have the urge to urinate but are retaining the urine because of the placement of a foley catheter during surgery. You should confirm with your surgeon if you had one placed. Typically, once the foley is discontinued, you are due to void within 6-8 hours after removal. Be sure to review all signs/symptoms with your surgeon, whether it is just the urge to void, or if there is any burning occuring. Good luck!
