I'd like to understand a little more about the procedure's timetable. What is the norm for scheduling? Is it abnormal to plan a surgery a year in advance? Thank you!
Answer: Scheduling BA Typically for Breast Augmentation surgery a preoperative history and physical exam are necessary, but some states only require labs for a healthy woman with no medical problems. OR availablity and preoperative medical needs are what limits when surgery is done. It could be within 2 weeks!

Answer: After the consultation, how far away is breast augmentation surgery usually scheduled? At my clinic, surgery can usually be booked 4 – 6 weeks following a consultation however we will work as closely as possible with the patient’s schedule. It will vary from surgeon to surgeon depending on their OR availability. If you have a limited time frame in which you wish to have your surgery, I suggest having your consultation at least 2 – 3 months prior.

Answer: Yes, thats abnormal. Some patients seem to want surgery the day of their consultation and are frustrated when we schedule them a month later for surgery. Some surgeons take pride that they are booked out 6 months. There really isn't a norm. I would say that the majority of patients have some dates in mind within the next 6 months they'd like to use for surgery. Your surgeon will likely smile and ask you to come back closer to your anticipated surgical date.

Answer: Timing Your breast augmentation after your consult This is a great question. There is no one standard answer to this however, one must consider many real life issues when planning any cosmetic surgery. The trades of pain, cost, scar and recovery time should dictate your timing of surgery. For example, if you are a young mother, a student, or an athlete your recovery time and ability to return to activities oaf daily life need to be planned well in advance. Recovery from breast surgery is usually fast, relatively painless and uncomplicated. However, if you have no time from work, school, or family those factors need to be considered. Planning and budgeting the money for your surgery may also take time. It is hardly ever a good idea to go into debt for a cosmetic surgery. You may require some medical testing and clearances before your surgery, that could take a few days or a week. However, usually patients are young and healthy and require only a pregnancy test and perhaps a mammogram, depending on your age. Surgeon's schedules vary however, as breast implant surgery, does not require a large block of time commitment from the surgeon, they usually can find time at your convenience. It is fine to plan surgery a year or more in advance. However, make sure that you have a follow up exam to go over your choices and any changes in your desires or health. Good luck.
