I can hear my breast implants moving. Is this normal?

I have 550cc gel silicone implants that I've had for over a year. I can hear them moving around I think. It sounds like plastic and water and it happens when I make certain movements with my arms. Is it possible they have ribbed or been displaced? Or is this normal? How would I get it checked?

It is not normal to be able to hear movement of silicone gel implants that have been in place over a year.  Your description of "plastic and water" suggests fluid has collected around the implants.  I would recommend scheduling a follow-up visit with your plastic surgeon (or another board-certified plastic surgeon if you have moved to another city, etc.) who will be able to determine what further evaluation and/or treatment (if any) you may require.Best wishes.

Your concerns are understandable. It's definitely not typical for a woman to be able to hear her breast implants moving around. I'd suggest a visit to your plastic surgeon. He or she will probably order an MRI to check for implant failure or other abnormalities. Good luck.

You should be examined by your plastic surgeon.  You may need an ultrasound if they suspect that you have a seroma and that is what you hear, but only an in person exam and test can determine if an ultrasound is even necessary. Best of luck.

Totally weird, I would order an MRI to make sure the implant has not ruptured because that is something I would be worried about

If you are feeling movement around your implant and is has been over one year since your procedure it is possible that there is some fluid outside of the implant that is moving around. If the breast is larger than the other side it is possible that an ultrasound examination may be needed.

This could be a problem but most likely what you are feeling is the rubbing of your implant across the chest wall when you move and it can sound like a squeaking sound of feel.  I would consult your PS and so he or she can determine if you have a significant problem or not.
