How long after having a complete facelift can You do heavy work again?

If you are healing well, you can do more strenuous exercise and activity after about 3 weeks.  If you are a patient who has more post-op swelling than normal you will want to wait longer before you start heavy work as this may make the swelling worse.  Your surgeon will have a good idea of how you are healing and will let you know what you can do.

I certainly would recommend anything athletic after a faceliftUntil your surgeon gives you the okay. However gardening and taking care of your dog should be no problem in two weeks.

Every surgeon has different criteria depending on your specific facelift procedure, so please check with your doctor. At the CENTER for Advanced Facelift Surgery in Beverly Hills, I typically recommend three weeks after surgery.

I typically recommend at least a month of light activity and certainly nothing with heavy weights similar to walking large dogs.  You may be able to do light gardening (out of the sun!) after 2-3 weeks.

I usually recommend at least three weeks before you start activities such as gardening. I like my patients to be up and walking around right after surgery. Light cardio can be started around 10-14 days after surgery. I like my patients to wait 4-6 weeks before incorporating any heavy lifting.

In our practice we ask patients to refrain from any activities that raise their heart rate and blood pressure for approximately 2 weeks. After 2 weeks patients have no restrictions.

Typically after 2 to 3 weeks a patient may begin to gradually resume strenuous activities. Before you get in a potentially dirty environment like caring for dogs your wounds should be fully healed with no open areas.  This can take a bit longer than 2 to 3 weeks.
