I have been on adhd medication for most of my adult life. I have maintained the same weight as well. I tend to not fluctuate and am fairly active. I have two questions. Will my adhd medication cause my lip filler to metabolize faster? Will exercise (3-4 x) a week make my filler treatment not last as long either?
Answer: This has no bearing on your filler. There are no actual fast metabolizers of fillers ( Yes, I know you have read that this is an issue). Almost all of these issues with fillers that seem to quickly disappear are associated with runny fillers. Runny fillers are fillers with a low G prime. G prime is a measure of how these fillers function more like solids in the tissue. The higher the G prime, the more persistent the filler will be. The lower the G prime, the more like a liquid the filler will function like a liquid and not hold wear it is placed. The low G prime fillers to not hold where they are placed. They drift. You end up thinking where did my lip go? This is the cause of the lip self or volume outside the lips. The answer is using a higher G prime filler. Injectors like the low G prime filler because when the make bumps, the bumps tend to go away on their own. Using a high G prime filler is much more fussy. Those products do not fix their own bumps. The injector has to be much more skilled to use these products but the pay off is a much more persistent filler service that holds where it is placed. Restylane is the ideal high G prime filler. Low G prime fillers are often marketed as smooth. Buyer beware.

Answer: Lip Augmentation Candidate -- Injectable Fillers (Juvederm, Restylane, Volbella), Fat Grafting to Lips, NovaThreads for Lift Your medication should have no effects on the fillers. I would highly recommend getting a formal evaluation with and treatment from a board-certified cosmetic dermatologist and expert in facial sculpting. Technique is the key to a successful lip augmentation with fillers, so you'll want to see someone meticulous. An experienced physician will be able to determine which filler, how much filler, and which technique will give you the subtle result you're looking for. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Yes It is true that ADHD meds/Adderall, and frequent exercise can impact the longevity of fillers. This won’t happen for everyone, as everybody metabolises products differently. Though stimulants, physical activity, and anything that raises your heart rate can potentially have this effect.

Answer: Lip fillers Dear Original583209, your medicines should have no effect on longevity of fillers. I perform a lot of lip injections with fillers such as juvederm and it works great. Many times I need to put more in one side than the other to attempt to even out the vermillion border (The red line of the lip). This helps provide more symmetry at times. For patients looking for a more long lasting result, I recommend fat grafting. That is, using your own bodies fat to make your lips naturally look more shapely. The bonus is that the results last many many years. In general, I avoid using permanent prosthesis because I find that the lips are such dynamic and sensitive structures, the end result is not natural.
