Do my lips even qualify for the small amount of Lip Filler? (photos)

Question

I'd be really grateful for your take. I'm really scared of having my lips done. I'd probably use only 0.5. Do you think I should accept my lips or slightly change them for ultra neutral look? What worries me most I kind of like the shape of my lips. My upper lip is a problem area and lacks redness. Having said that.. the lack of redness on the "sides" might mean a terrible result of lip filler or/and having to change the shape of my lips (I like it!) and being overfilled!

Technique is the key to a successful lip augmentation with fillers, so you'll want to see someone meticulous. Whenever Lip injections are undertaken, the goal should be to achieve good proportion between the upper and lower lip. You do have quite a small upper lip relative to your lower lip. A small amount of filler in your upper lip might improve the proportion without changing the overall shape.

I perform a lot of lip injections with fillers such as juvederm and it works great. Many times I need to put more in one side than the other to attempt to even out the vermillion border (The red line of the lip). This helps provide more symmetry at times.For patients looking for a more long lasting result, I recommend fat grafting. That is, using your own bodies fat to make your lips naturally look more shapely. The bonus is that the results last many many years.
In general, I avoid using permanent prosthesis because I find that the lips are such dynamic and sensitive structures, the end result is not natural.

Whether or not to get lip filler is a very personal decision. If you want to enhance/plump the volume of the lips, filler is the way to go. Filler will likely not change the color of the lips. If you are nervous of getting over-filled, I would choose a doctor that would start with a small amount of filler, and build up over time as needed. There are also different types of fillers on the market depending on what your goals are. I hope this helps!

I believe that a small amount (e.g. 1/2 syringe = 0.5cc) of the right filler placed very carefully in your upper lip alone would look nice & natural. Best to see a true skin/cosmetic expert such as a dermatologist for optimal results & safety.

Dear Phenomenal5147, thank you for sharing your photos. What you pointed out in your lips, "lack of redness", can also be understood as a thinness on the sides. As long as there is no medical contraindication and if you can have your goals clearly discussed with your provider, I think a little filler can definitely help you. And there is no reason why you can not start with 1/2 syringe (0.5cc). 
Is there any alternatives to filler? The answer is also yes. You may try botox for "lip flip", which relaxes the muscle around the lips and help create a more red/"flipped out" appearance. Though this procedure only produce very subtle results. You can also combine botox with a small amount of fillers to create a natural but enhanced appearance. Hope this helps.

You would definitely benefit from having a small amount of filler placed into your upper lip as it will bring your lips to an overall better proportions. There are great many hyaluronic acid fillers which can be used in the lips with great success and most any of them will do a good job as long as the procedure is being performed by someone with lots of experience.
