2 weeks post CoolSculpting, scared of no results because I've felt no pain. Is this normal?

I recently did coolsculpting on my lower abs with the advantage machine.. i felt ZERO pain.. no pain from suction or from the massage.. i did get swollen and a little soar after. It hs been two weeks now and id say the pain maybbee reached a 2 but only from the soarness. My stomach does feel numb though This may sound silly but to me pain means something is happening. Should i be concerned that it wont work well for me because of my lack of feeling anything? Is it normal to feel no pain?

Not feeling
anything after CoolSculpting is absolutely normal. CoolSculpting
tends to be relatively painless. Many patients don't experience any
pain during the procedure or swelling afterward and return to their
normal routines immediately. Sometimes the only patient testimonials
online are the worst scenarios.  Patients who feel little discomfort
(the majority of patients) from CoolSculpting may not write to report
their minimal experience.  However, it still works extremely well –
even without any pain!
Cryolipolysis
– the patented technique behind CoolSculpting – works by lowering
the temperature of the fat sufficiently to kill the fat cells so that
they can be eliminated from the body permanently. You will not “feel”
it working. It takes up to three months before your final results are
visible. You will also need more than one CoolSculpting session to
get optimal results, as only 20% to 25% of fat can be eliminated at a
time, more if a Zimmer Zwave or manual massage is used in
conjunction. You may need to wait about two weeks between
CoolSculpting treatments. Please call your board-certified
dermatologist to schedule your next CoolSculpting session.

Hello,Thank you for your question. While I can understand your concern, rest assured that this is very common with the advantage handpieces. They have less suction which caused a lot of the discomfort. It will absolutely work, however it can take 2-3 months before seeing full results. Good luck!

We all know the saying "no pain no gain". However does that apply to non-invasive fat reduction techniques? The question is not did the treatment work. The question is  Will my results meet my expectations. Many times non invasive techniques are appropriately selected by the provider for the patient based on their body habitus and their desires for ultimate goals. However sometimes there can be greater incentives for nonsurgical treatments due to the decrease costs and ease-of-use that may influence the selection of  Treatment, which may not take into consideration of all facets of treatment options. Over the past few years of treating patients with coolsculpting I have noted a wide variety of reactions and sensations from the treatments. Some patients  have a pulling or burning sensation during the treatment and others have felt little to no discomfort at all. Certainly the massage is an important part of the post procedure algorithm and thus, massage can also be  uncomfortable. Check back with your provider for a follow up and talk openly and honestly with them about your goals and desires. Look closely at your pre-and post procedure photos. More often than not patients need several treatments to achieve their desired results.

Everyone's pain response is different.  If you have some numbness that means you have swelling. It takes time for the fat cells to dissipate.   It may take 2-3 months to see your final results.

Therefore, it’s not uncommon that you’re not experiencing pain. Don't worry about not feeling pain after CoolSculpting! It's perfectly normal. CoolSculpting tends to be a very well tolerated procedure. Many of my patients have been pleasantly surprised that they felt absolutely no pain other than a cool sensation during the procedure. Most have minimal pain and swelling afterward. Your results will take a few months to appreciate. You also will probably need at least one or two more CoolSculpting sessions to get the shape you want, because only about 25% of fat can be removed in one treatment.
