I want a lift, but am terrified of scarring. Should I avoid surgery?

I want a mastopexy and a slight reduction, approximately 1-2 cup sizes smaller. I am 22 (36D/34DD), my boobs don't have a large amount of sag, nor am I extremely insecure about them anymore, as I have come to terms with them being part of me, and I just opt for almost always wearing a bra in public to hide the natural shape. The biggest, perhaps only, thing holding me back is the gnarly scarring I see post-op. I believe I am prone to scarring, as I have visible scars from the insertion and removal of my implant birth control from years ago (raised skin, no discoloration). I have dark skin and am very prone to hyperpigmentation, and my mother, who has had a mastopexy, also still has scarring almost 10 years later. I understand that scarring is to be expected, especially within the first year. However, my goal is to be confident, so I would rather not have huge, dark, unsightly scars that I'd have to hide my breasts away when the intention was to show them off. In fact, sometimes I feel like I'd rather keep the sag and size to avoid it. I've looked into different techniques that address scarring (e.g., Benelli), but they tend to come with a lot of issues and are said to be linked to undesired results and medical malpractice lawsuits. I hope I am wrong, but it seems like the only people who have minimal scarring are those who didn't need a lift, but instead get periareolar or transaxillary implants.
