Possible areola pigment near my breast lift scar. Is this normal or can it be improved? (Photos)

Since your surgery was over a year ago, the pigmentation may not improve. Scar revision may be needed to reduce this.

Yes, that is residual areolar pigment that was not removed during the first surgery. This can be normal depending on the size of your original areola, we can always take it all out in one surgery. I would recommend you have the vertical scar revised and more of that areolar skin removed. This should be an easy revision under local anesthesia

Thank you for your photos. It does appear that you have some areolar skin beside your vertical incision after your breast lift. This likely occurred because your areola were large prior to your breast lift and the markings that were drawn for your breast lift could not be drawn outside the extent of your areolar pigmentation. This is a relatively common occurrence. One potential solution: after your breast lift has had a chance to mature, and the skin to soften and stretch some, a re-excision of some of the pigmented skin may be able to be performed. Check with your Plastic surgeon about whether this is an option for you. Best wishes.

With a breast reduction or breast lift, the nipple areolar complex is lifted and reduced. In patients with a large amount of areolar pigmentation preoperatively, may notice residual areolar pigmentation remains often along the vertical scar. The excess pigmentation often can be addressed with a second smaller procedure removing it under local anesthesia.
