Will .55mL Volbella in conjunction with a lip flip be enough to plump lips? (Photo)

Thank you for sharing your question and photographs.  Volbella helps to smooth out lips while providing a small amount of volume.  I think you have nicely proportioned lips and if you aren’t looking for a noticeable increase in size, then you should be okay.  If more volume is what you seek, then use Ultra.  Botox injections for a lip flip are different than for a gummy smile so be sure to have this explained to you by your provider.

Thank you for your question. Volbella is a very thin filler and when placed in the lips, a small difference will be seen. If you are looking for a noticeable difference, I would go with the Ultra. Even one syringe doesn't get people the plump they are looking for and they often come back for more. Ultra will last longer and give you a much better plump for your money. Good luck!

A lip filler can make you achieve natural and plump-looking lips. It can help to improve the appearance of your lips depending on your liking. When choosing the appropriate lip fillers many things need to be taken into consideration. First is how much augmentation are you considering and  what fillers options does the practitioner have to offer. Since you have two different issues with your lips being gummy smile and wanting lip augmentation, you may want to consider doing them in separate appointments for two different reasons.  First I would start with injection of botox for a gummy smile which is injected differently than a lip flip. Different muscles around the mouth have differnt functions. Then come back in one week for follow up of the gummy smile injection and inject filler for augmentation. Usually 1/2 syringe of Volbella will give small hydrate appearance to the lips rather than a true augmentationwhich Juvederm Ultra or Restylane are better suited.

Thanks for your question and helpful photos.  I would say you might not get the volume you are looking for with the smaller syringe of Volbella.  It is a very nice starter filler and the 0.55 is great for people with very small or thin lips.  It is natural looking and soft.  If you are going for a more volumized or full lip, Juvederm Ultra or Restylane would be more likely to give you a more noticeable difference.  Treating the gummy smile is different than the Botox lip flip, so make sure your dermatologist or plastic surgeon who is doing your injections knows which procedure you want.  Please see an expert, and best of luck!

Hello!  Volbella is a great choice for smoothing vertical lip lines known as smokers lines. If you are looking for a noticeable difference in lip volume, Ultra would be the better choice.  If you're having trouble deciding, it is always a good idea to meet with different injectors and look at before and after pictures of their patients.

    Based on the current volume of your lips, I do not think Volbella will give you the proportion you are looking for. I would recommend Refyne or straight Restylane for a little extra plumpness. Volbella is so soft, it will get lost in your lips. Hope this helps.
