I am debating between Ultra and a half syringe of Volbella, but am weary of spending more on the Ultra as this is my first experience with filler. I also am planning on doing a lip flip to reduce the gummy smile. I would like my top lip specifically to be more proportional to my face. Will the .55mL Volbella make a noticeable difference?

Volbella helps to smooth out lips while providing a small amount of volume. I think you have nicely proportioned lips and if you aren’t looking for a noticeable increase in size, then you should be okay. If more volume is what you seek, then use Ultra. Botox injections for a lip flip are different than for a gummy smile so be sure to have this explained to you by your provider.

First I would start with injection of botox for a gummy smile which is injected differently than a lip flip. Different muscles around the mouth have differnt functions. Then come back in one week for follow up of the gummy smile injection and inject filler for augmentation. Usually 1/2 syringe of Volbella will give small hydrate appearance to the lips rather than a true augmentationwhich Juvederm Ultra or Restylane are better suited.
