Can I smoke cigarettes after lip injections?

I got lip injections at 5 pm the other day and it’s the next morning 12:28 pm. I got a type of juvederm that is supposed to last a year. My doctor said i would be fine to smoke cigarettes by the next morning but i’m worried that I shouldn’t because my lips are swollen and bruised right now. I heard that cigarettes can leave a shape in the juvederm if you smoke them.

Swelling can be typical. Icing and cold compresses may give improvement. I would wait a full 2 weeks before judging the results, but this may be superficially placed filler. If it is after the two week wait, you can have the filler reversed with hyaluronidase. I hope this helps!

It depends. If you are taking antibiotics for anything in the mouth I’d suggest waiting until the course is complete. Discuss your medications with your injector, we tend to wait several weeks after dental work for filler. Best of luck.

The lips do swell following injection and can have a few lumps and bumps for up to two weeks as the filler integrates with your lip tissue.  You may also have some degree of bruising which would be telling of injection.  You can do things to diminish swelling and bruising, such as, avoiding an...

Lumps and/or swelling can be typical and it will resolve in 1-2 weeks. Icing, firm massage and arnica can help. I would wait a full 2 weeks before assessing results. Hope this helps
