I have been to two doctors, one wants to do smart lipo and one is a plastic surgeon and said smart lipo is not as good and performs only traditional liposuctions. How can I decide which is the best choice?

Answer: Liposuction versus Smart Lipo Hello and thank you for your question. Both procedures Liposuction and Smart lipo are related and they can both deliver great results. For younger subjects with excellent skin tone and smaller amounts of fat to be removed liposuction is as good as Smart Lipo. Smart Lipo Triplex adds a higher index of skin tightening, and less bruising compared to classical liposuction or earlier generation Smart Lipo or Smart Lipo MPX. Good luck with your procedure from Westchester County, NY, Oxana Popescu MD

Answer: Traditional lipo vs SmartLipo Thanks for your question! It depends on a number of factors. I perform both and have reasoning for when and why I do either. For patients looking to treat a large number of areas, I'm inclined to do traditional liposuction. If it's a more concentrated area (like the lower abdomen) and the patient is concerned about downtime, recovery or anesthesia, then I may recommend SmartLipo. Go with the surgeon that you feel more confident and comfortable with. Good luck!

Answer: Smart vs Traditional Liposuction Thank you for your question. I actually have a smart lipo device; however, I am not the biggest fan. I have not found any evidence showing it tightens skin except in very high joules that in my opinion cause scar contracture that is not aesthetically pretty. By using a laser, you are melting fat. There will always be fat left behind in one form or the other. The fat that is left behind is now dead, burnt fat which will cause more internal scar tissue, and in my experience, more lumps and bumps. I prefer the SAFE liposuction technique which emulsifies the fat prior to sucking the fat out. The small amount of fat that is left behind is more like a smoothie and evens out to give. a smoother, even result. I still do perform some Smart lipo for certain areas, and patient request, but in the end, it is the surgeon, not necessarily the best device which will give the best result. All the best,
