Hello, I had an open rhinoplasty about 7 months ago. I really like the tip but I have a bump on the top part of my nose, on the Bonny part of the bridge which highly bothers me. My surgeon told me that it was my bone and that he didnt remove enough of it during the surgery. He offered me to rasp the bump in his office in a few months under local anesthesia. After reading posts online I am scared that rasping would lead to an open roof deformity. Any advice? I am mostly bothered by the 3/4 side.
I had a septoplasty and dorsal hump rasping 6 years ago and have been left with what appears to be an open roof deformity. My new surgeon suggested to either do an osteotomy or do side rasping to make the boney side of my nose stick out less. I origionally chose the rasping, but now I fear it will make it all worse. Is an osteotomy the way to go hear?
Hello, I have been asking myself this question for the longest time. I saw that some people who get a rhinoplasty can develop a callus post op. This callus can be rasped down with a local anesthesia procedure. Normally when taking down a bump on the nose, osteotomies are done to close the open roof deformity, but why arent osteotomies required when rasping down a callus post op? Thank you for your answers.
I had open rhinoplasty 2 years ago. About 6 months ago I noticed a gap on the bridge of my nose, where my hump was shaved off. I recently had my 2 year post op and my surgeon said this is normal to have when you have had rhinoplasty and that it is not an open roof deformity because it is not visible to the eye. However I can see it and its noticeable in certain lighting and in some pictures. My surgeon doesnt believe a revision would help because he believes its a minor detail.
I am interested in a rhinoplasty surgery and would like to know whether this can be combined with treating a slight gap on my nose (to treat open roof gap deformity) I also have a small bump in the same area where the open roof gap is (on the nasal bridge) and wondering if both these issues can be adressed though surgery?
Im 10 months post preservation rhinoplasty and i have an open roof on one side, even tho i had a medial and lateral osteotomy. My surgeon says its normal and that it will still close by itself with callus growth. Is that really possible and how long does that take? Update: Photos added
Im 10 months post op after a preservation rhino. I have been feeling a slid in the bone on one side next to my septum since i was a few months post op. I saw my surgeon last months and he said its completely normal after the preservation technique because the bones are moved inwards and there will be callus growth to close the slid, but it seems weird to mm after so long that will still happen. Can i still hav hope it will close and look straight again?
Second question regarding my open roof. In one of my responses the doctor mentioned me pulling my skin. I have attached a picture. For some reason the dent is noticeable only when I tilt my head to the side. During surgery my nasal bones were broken and my surgeon has told me bone irregularities on the bridge are normal but Im not sure if thats correct. Please advise if this is open roof deformity?
