I am looking to have a setback otoplasty to reshape my helical rim and reduce the projection of my ear. My consultant had recommended dissolvable stitches during the procedure. My only concern is I do believe there is a higher change of relapse or the ears projecting out in future. Why would surgeon prefer to use dissolvable stitches? Are prominent stitches preferred vs the two? How are infections or any side effects post surgery from using permanent stitches avoided?
I had otoplasty approximately 16 months ago, and today I discovered that 2 little bruises appeared on my antihelix. What could've caused this. Could a stitch have snapped? I can't see my surgeon as I moved to a different city.
I had otoplasty done 4 months ago and I still have stitches visible? Plus bumps on the cartilage and my ears are still very unsymmetrical. Im due to see my surgeon this week but im very concerned this is a botched procedure.
What is the difference between these methods? They seem to be the same however each doctor describes it as their method. Just looking for some clarification as Im looking to find a surgeon to perform this method. Thank you. (UK based)
I had my ears pinned back (otoplasty) 11 years ago I have a stitch remaining in the back of my ear. After having the surgery to pin my ears back 10 days later I had the appointment for the stitches to be removed however the nurse was unable to remove one of the stitches from my left ear and advised it would work its way out on its own. This hasnt happened and I have repeatedly tried to remove by cutting it down and pulling with tweezers with no luck. Now its starting to burst thru the front of my ear and is tender. How would this be removed?
I'm about 5 months post Otoplasty and it appears that I have a white stitch that is sticking out of my left ear, (circled in red). It isn't painful or irritated but I have been applying vaseline on it just as a method to prevent irritation. Is this something that I should be concerned about, and should I see a surgeon to fix it, or can I just ignore it and it will heal over on its own? Thank you.
I've had earlobe reduction surgery. I got my earlobes reduction done last week (7 days ago). Today, I went to see my doctor, and I see a small bump on the ears. I asked my doctor why there was a bump and he said something like because not all those stitches have come out yet. He said it should go away with time. Do I have anything to concerned about? pic attached
I am worried about my right ear. It is very bruised and swollen still and I have blisters on top of and behind my ear. Also there are a few stitches visible and I don't know if this is normal? My left ear has no bruisng or blisters and looks fine. Does my right ear appear to be healing ok after 6 days from the photos??
I just had otoplasty 1 wk ago. The head wrap came off 2 days ago. While puttling the band on, I ripped the top stitch. one ear is stitched to my head still, while the ripped stich has released the hold on the top. Was the skin stitched suposed to attach to eachother, or will the other ear do this once the stitches desolve as well. I am stuck in the head band, if i take it out i can feel a pull on the top of the ear where the stich scliced. It start to protued out slightly and is uncomfortable.
