What is the different between Dr. Merck’s stitch method and Mr (Greg) O’Toole’s stitch method? (Ear Correction)

What is the difference between these methods? They seem to be the same however each doctor describes it as their method. Just looking for some clarification as I’m looking to find a surgeon to perform this method. Thank you. (UK based)

There are numerous differences between Dr Merck's Stitch Method and Mr (Greg) O'Toole's EarStitch method?

1. Mr O'Toole makes a long incision on the back of the ear and removes some of the skin. Dr Merck does not make any incisions; the ear remains closed everywhere.

2. If the conchal bowl is large and deep, Mr O'Toole removes cartilage in this area. Dr Merck never removes cartilage. He corrects a large and deep conchal bowl by shifting the antihelix fold towards the ear canal, and this, only with stitches.

3. Mr O'Toole's method involves applying a bandage. This is not necessary with the Dr Merck Stitch Method.

4. Mr O'Toole's method is therefore not a minimally invasive stitch method. The Dr Merck Stitch Method, on the other hand, is minimally invasive.
