I personally feel that you did not have an appropriate surgery for your situation. There is no substitute for a personal examination. I also do not know what was discussed between you and your surgeon. I do not have the details of your surgery but as I believe I indicated in one of your prior posts, you appear to have had an eyelid procedure that has fallen out favor and been replaced by lateral canthal surgery. It very much appears that your surgeon removed a wedge of full thickness eyelid tissue from the lateral half of the lower eyelid. The reason these procedures have fallen out of favor it that they foreseeably can cause a notch in the lower eyelid that is generally aesthetically unacceptable. Can this be revised if it heals in an unacceptable manner? The answer is of course, but at the cost of loosing more lower eyelid tissue. The problem with both lateral canthal shortening and lower eyelid shortening procedures like you have had, is that it is also foreseeable that these procedures will force the lower eyelid lower on the eye surface rather that help lift the eyelid. You had a localized eyelid procedure for what is really a mid face issue. I favor using mid face methods to correct these types of issues. I suspect you may have chosen the course you did because it was covered by health insurance. Please let the lower eyelid heal for a full year before considering and additional surgery. Perhaps in this time frame the scar will quiet enough that you will find it acceptable.
