Will there be a noticeable difference between 385cc and 470cc silicone (upgrade)?

Thank you for your question. An increase of 85 cc would be about a 22% increase in size over your current implant. Do you think that will meet your goals? I usually tell patients to expect 150-200 cc per cup size as a rough estimate, so I would not expect a full cup size of change. Also, you could try on a sizing system with your PS that would show you the difference if that is available or try the rice test system to "add" 85 cc to your current results to see if that meets your goals.Hope this helps!

While 85 cc will likely be a noticeable change, it would not be expected to add a full cup size. If that is what you're after, it's probably not worth it. Also, a larger implant puts more stress on your tissues, and it is smart that the surgeon limited the implant size when doing it at the same time as a full lift. Going from high profile to extra high also gives a different overall shape to the breast. It is hard to give definitive advice without seeing you in person and doing an exam, but the bottom line is there are limitations to each surgery, and sometimes going bigger creates new problems that are not worth it.

Hello,It would be a 22% increase in volume which is a noticeable increase. No one knows if that is a 'cup size' or not.  Make two 85 cc rice sizers and try them on to see the difference. Beyond aesthetics, keep in mind that this revision will further expand and thin your tissues, putting you at risk for unpredictable outcomes: rippling, malposition, double bubble, and capsular contracture. Dear Ann,   Front and side view pictures would have been helpful. You did not provide your chest circumference measurement in inches, which is critical for the correct implants size selection.    I am not sure why your surgeon is limiting you to 85 cc increase of your implants. Usually, with capsulotomy (scar release) larger implants can be selected.   In any event, 85 cc increase, should increase your cup size by , at least, 1/2 size, which is a noticeable increase and is "worth it" in my opinion.   Always, consult with experienced board certified plastic surgeons who operate in accredited surgery center for your safety. Most importantly, check the before and after pictures of redo breasts augmentation in the photo gallery, to make sure that they are numerous, consistent and attractive with nice cleavage, perky, symmetrical and natural looking.              Best of luck,                                 Dr Widder    

Dear Ann K.,85cc increase in size will probably make some difference but it is hard to tell whether it is enough to achieve your goals. Breast implant type and sizing selection is a complicated process and requires a detailed consultation that includes a discussion of your goals, a detailed examination, and a lengthy discussion. But the decision will always start and end with the patient. When it comes to sizing, we have all of our patients find 3 photos of their desired breast size. We ask for naked breast photos because clothing can obscure the true size (push up bras). Next, we consult with patients and go over the photos and take detailed breast measurements during a physical exam. Next, we using a sizing algorithm to determine a range of implants that will work based on the exam and the measurements.Lastly, during the operation, we use silicone sizers in the operating room to see how the size actually looks in the breast. We sit the patient up in the operating room, while asleep of course, and compare the sizer result with their desired look photos. If it is too small, we start the process over with a slightly larger implant. We don't stop until we get the perfect match.Of all of my breast augmentation patients, every one of them has been happy with their size due to this detailed and meticulous process. I believe that it takes at least 75 cc's to see a visible difference. So, yes, as long as the implant style is the same, I think you will see a difference.  

A larger implant can affect your lift result. If you are happy with the overall appearance, it may not be worth it. I think you would notice the change in size if you decide to proceed. You could also consider a more cohesive breast implant to give you a more round, full appearance, if that's what you are looking for. Allergan Inspira has 3 levels of cohesive gel implants that can appear natural to "Baywatch". Something to consider talking to your surgeon about. Best wishes.
