What you are seeing is separation of the platysma (neck muscles). This is not skin. The muscle edges are showing up through the skin. My suggestion is to consider treatments that address muscle. The most conservative nonsurgical treatment will be Botox. The only other treatment that I would suggest that you consider if botox does not help is a mini neck lift (platysmaplasty), which can be done under local anesthesia through a small incision under the chin. Laser and energy devices will only help tighten the skin and I have not found them to be helpful when it comes to addressing muscle bands.
It's best to begin by consulting with a surgeon in-person to discuss your options. Depending on the level of laxity, the effects of a neck lift will certainly outlast the effects of non-surgical treatments. Non-surgical procedures can only temporary resolve the issue and require few to several attempts or treatment appointments. The presence of banding down the front of the #neck, and, amount of excess skin and condition of your skin are among some factors which determine if you are a #candidate for #rejuvenating the neck.During your initial examination, your chin will be evaluated along with the neck and jawline. A weak #chin implies a lack of chin support for the skin along the neck line. In younger individuals a chin implant alone is usually all that is needed to improve the appearance of the neck. Subsequently, it will also improve the overall #balance of the face and can create the illusion of a smaller nose. As a stand-alone procedure, chin augmentation can be performed in the office under local #anesthesia. For individuals with signs of #aging in the neck, a chin implant added to one of the recommended procedures above, will provide optimal results.Liposuction under the chin is also another option your doctor can discuss. If you are not a candidate at the time of your #consultation, your board certified plastic surgeon can recommend alternatives to address your concern. Consulting with a board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in #neck lift procedures is important to ensure you are receiving the best advice, care, and surgical experience possible.
Neck aging starts to appear in the mid 30s usually as vertical neck bands at the level of the neck angle. These lines are usually secondary to both excess of skin and loose muscle. This physical finding could be corrected with a neck lift or improve with minimally invasive skin tightening procedures like fractora.
Thank you for your question and sharing your photos. What you are seeing is muscle. I think you have a great neck and jawline with no fat or sagging skin. However, if this bothers you it can be improved with lasers or microneedling. Best of luck!Dhaval M. Patel. Double Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Hoffman Estates Barrington Oakbrook Chicago
Because you don't really need much, I would recommend Botox as the first line of treatment for these bands. If you are not satisfied, platysmaplasty is the next step but be aware that it might need to be accompanied by some type of latera lift.
This can be improved with a combination of fillers, lasers, microneedling/prp and radiofrequency. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer
Thank you for your pictures. You have a great neck and jawline with minimal fat - and so what you are seeing is the platysma muscle starting to show through (its a fine muscle layer below the skin that helps support the inner structures of the neck - as it looses tone, you begin to see those bands). There are a couple of ways to address this. For young patients, I usually recommend conservative first. Botox works very well in this area, and can give you a very nice result. Since you are young, you may not need to do it more than twice or 3 times a year. Eventually you may want to address these permanently with a platysmaplasty through a small incision just under the chin. Those are a few of the options available for you. Best of luck!
The photographs demonstrate a long thin neck with only minimal amount of fat present and two anterior platysma muscle cords that are just starting to show through thin skin. Botox would be the first and most conservative treatment. Alternatively, a platysma plasty can accomplish tightening these two cords by sewing them together through an incision underneath the chin.
