Is a tummy tuck safe with one kidney?

Question

I am a 35 year old female with no significant medical history however after giving birth via c section I found out that I was born with one kidney. Never had any issues no high blood pressure or diabetes however concerned that such a major surgery may cause damage. Scheduled for tummy tuck with MR and liposuction.

   Yes, in general it is safe to have a tummy tuck with one kidney. You first have to have clearance from a nephrologist to assess your kidney function and any other risk factors. AKI, or acute kidney injury, is a rare but serious complication which may be precipitated by low blood pressure and bleeding.  You should avoid medications that are toxic to the kidney like NSAIDS and some antibiotics.
