Dry cough/illness 4 days before breast lift, can I expect to have to reschedule surgery?

Hello and thank you for your question. Given the elective nature of your surgery, you can expect for it to be rescheduled until at least 2-4 weeks after you are fully over your sickness. This will ultimately be up to a combined discussion between you, your surgeon, and the anesthesiologist. Everyone has the same goal of only proceeding with the elective surgery when it is safest to do so, but certainly rescheduling can be frustrating for all parties involved. I hope this helps!

It would be best to ask your surgeon directly, as they would be more familiar with the specifics of your situation. Generally speaking, surgery is rescheduled if the patient develops a fever or sickness.

You need to call your surgeon's office for this will be his/her decision. If you are ill, you need to reschedule.

The only ones who can make the determination if it is safe for you to proceed with surgery are your surgical team. I encourage you to contact your surgeon to discuss your symptoms. She/He will let you know if rescheduling your surgery is needed.

You should call you doctor immediately to reschedule. You are taking someone else's opportunity by not rescheduling.

I suggest you contact your plastic surgeon and let them know what’s going on.
Your surgeon can give you some reassurance but often ultimately it’s up to the anesthesiologist if they feel comfortable moving forward with your procedure. If you don’t have a productive cough and your cough is mild, then there’s a good chance. Your surgery can still be done in four days.
You may want to consider getting a Covid test. It’s always better to check in with your surgeon if you’re not sure.
