I have lost around 70 pounds and now have lose skin. I work out 5 days outs of the week and nothings seems to help. I have extra skin in my back area and side boob area and arms/armpit area. I know I want a breast lift and a arm lift (with the hidden scar in the armpit). Can a breast lift alone fix the skin or would I have to get a vertical torosoplasty? ( I don't want the back lift scar that goes horizontally)
Answer: Extended breast lift An extended breast lift can address some of the excess skin that is located beneath the armpit but ultimately the amount of excess skin that can be removed is limited by your desire to avoid a scar across the back in the bra line. In these cases where patients want to limit the scar length, I recommend starting with an extended breast lift to see how much skin can be removed. Often times patients are happy with their result and if they still desire more skin to be removed, we can discuss options for additional procedures which may include extending the incision. You don't lose the opportunity for further surgery by starting with an extended breast lift. I hope this helps! Jordan Kaplan, MD

Answer: Mastopexy Thank you for your inquiry! Congratulations on your weight loss! It looks like from your photos that you would be a great candidate for a Mastopexy procedure as that will also remove any excess skin to your axilla/lateral chest. We would love to meet you in person or virtually to discuss your surgical options and create a surgical plan targeted towards your goals. Schedule a consultation with a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon like myself to help you reach your goals and create a plan for you!

Answer: Skin and fat on back Dear taurzgrl, breast lift will only affect your breasts and won't have any effect on skin and fat on back. My preferred lift is a lollipop lift when a periareolar won't do (ie greater than 2cm lift required). The lollipop technique was created by a Canadian plastic surgeon named Elizabeth Hall-Findley and treats the breast as a three dimensional structure instead of two dimensions (anchor - lift). Most importantly it does not require the horizontal component scars that the anchor-lift requires and breasts appear much more natural, lifted, and less boxy. Lastly, the lift lasts longer because the lollipop doesn't rely on the skin to hold the breast up, its actually breast tissue thats being brought together to support the breast and hence improves longevity. Answer: Lift I would recommend an upper body lift. This includes lifting the breasts, the side of the chest wall (that you are grabbing in the photo), and also a bra-line back lift. I would recommend seeing a board-certified plastic surgeon with experience/adequate training in breast surgery.

Answer: Surgery No, the breast lift will not address the back areas. You might consider liposuction with Renuvion, minimally invasive radiofrequency and plasma energy skin tightening for the back.

Answer: Breast lift Congratulations on your impressive weight loss! A standard breast lift will not impact the back or bra line area. I encourage you to meet with a board certified plastic surgeon for an evaluation. There may be non surgical or minimally invasive options to consider for improvement depending on the laxity of the skin.
