Last Tuesday I had 200 units of botox for migraines. Had botox a few years ago much smaller doses. This time, 3 days of fevers, sick feeling, migraine worse, pain in shoulders, neck, head, face. Today I am super dizzy and significant nexk pain. Normal?
Answer
Thank you for your question. The symptoms you have described are not normal with Botox injections. You may want to consider visiting your family doctor to discuss these symptoms; you may want to investigate alternate causes. Best,

It is very unusual to be sick after a Botox treatment. I would suggest following up with your family doctor.Otherwise you should be evaluated by a board certified dermatologist experienced in this procedure to advise you properly and address your concerns.

This is a forum for cosmetic medicine. You are not having cosmetic Botox injected. You are having a neuromodulation treatment for a medical condition, namely migraine. The treatment is likely being performed by a neurologist and the symptoms you describe are more likely related to your baseline neurologic condition. We do not inject 200 units of Botox for cosmetic purposes and would not know what post-treatment symptoms are not expected with that kind of dose.

During the initial clinical trials there were some reports of flu like symptoms following Botox. It should resolve on its on and does not mean you are allergic. it may be dose related but can happen at lower doses also
