Should you avoid taking the painkiller Naproxen a week after having restalyn vital injections under your eyes, and if so why please?
Answer: Is it ok to take the painkiller Naproxen while having Restylane vital fillers under your eyes Naproxen is in a class of medications called NSAIDS. They thin the blood and increase the chances and extent of bruising from the treatment, therefore it is best to avoid them for a week prior to treatment. An alternative that will not have this effect is acetaminophen (Tylenol).

I typically tell my patients to refrain from using any anti-inflammatory medication, including naproxen, ibuprofen and aspirin, for one week prior to injections, since these substances can increase your bruising risk. However, one week after injections, it should be perfectly fine to take Naproxen.

Blood thinning medications like aspirin, Motrin or Naproxen generally increase the likelihood of bruising after injections. You can resume your normal routine 2-3 days after your treatment. Pain medications like Tylenol are safe to use prior to treatment.
