Is it normal to have neck pain 8 months after facelift?

It is unusual to have pain lasting so long after a lift.  It is possible that sutures placed deep in your neck region to tighten the neck line have entrapped a nerve that is causing your pain.  An exploration and release of any scar or sutures in the area may help. 

It is unusual to have pain 8 months after surgery, and suggests that you have extra scar tissue in the area of the neck that was surgically undermined at the time of the original surgery. Sometimes massage and physical therapy to stretch the area can help. If the pain is localized, then sometimes a steroid injection may help. I would consult with your surgeon. A definitive diagnosis would require an in-person examination.

I would advise you to contact your plastic surgeon. It is always best to follow up with any symptoms post surgery even if they may not be related. Make sure you are speaking with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon. All the best during your healing and recovery process!

Pain should be resolved 9 months and much sooner after a facelift. It could be related to a nerve or perhaps it is unrelated to the facelift and has to do with something else going on in your neck.  I would discuss with your plastic surgeon and get some other opinions.

I would not expect you to have neck pain this far out after a face lift. Without knowing what exactly happened during the surgery anything I would suggest is speculation. It is possible that the sternocleidomastoid muscle (long muscle from under your ear to the collar bone) was captured by a stitch while suspending the platysma thus restricting your neck excursion and causing pain. You need to go back to back to your surgeon and ask.

The problem could be
that during the dissection some pressure was placed on one of the nerves in
your neck and this is now starting to normalize it may be hypersensitive. I
would speak to your plastic surgeon about this problem. He may be able to
pinpoint and trigger area that he could inject with a steroid and local
anesthetic and see if this release your symptoms. If not, then perhaps physical
therapy may be of benefit

What you described is not common 8 months after a facelift.  Discuss this with your surgeon in the event physical therapy is needed.

It would be most unusual to have that significant discomfort 8 months after a facelift.   I would definitely discuss this with your surgeon.   It is possible that a nerve was cut or trapped in a suture or some other cause of such discomfort.
