Is it normal to have neck pain 8 months after facelift?

Question

The pain is only on the left side going down from my neck to my shoulder. The right side healed without any problems but not so on the left. I still can't fully turn my head to the right without feeling pain. The pain feels like a deep bruise, is this possible after 8 months?

It is unusual to have pain lasting so long after a lift.  It is possible that sutures placed deep in your neck region to tighten the neck line have entrapped a nerve that is causing your pain.  An exploration and release of any scar or sutures in the area may help.

It is unusual to have pain 8 months after surgery, and suggests that you have extra scar tissue in the area of the neck that was surgically undermined at the time of the original surgery. Sometimes massage and physical therapy to stretch the area can help. If the pain is localized, then sometimes a steroid injection may help. I would consult with your surgeon. A definitive diagnosis would require an in-person examination.

Pain should be resolved 9 months and much sooner after a facelift. It could be related to a nerve or perhaps it is unrelated to the facelift and has to do with something else going on in your neck.  I would discuss with your plastic surgeon and get some other opinions.
