How long after breast augmentation until I can submerge in water?

You may shower 24 hours after surgery. Be
careful not to disturb your incisions. Any strenuous activities and exercises are to be
avoided until 3-4 weeks after surgery (heart rate should stay below 100 beats per minute).
Please see your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to discuss when it is safe for you to start
swimming.

If you are having an augmentation only with no lift I would expect you to be doing very well at almost 4 weeks post op and back to a normal routine.   You will continue to heal for many months but Iwouldn't expect any interference with normal activity.      Of courseyou need to follow the instruction of your surgeon.  Good Luck

Dear Pharmer 19,Thank you for the question. I advise patients that they can shower the day after surgery. But, I suggest waiting until the wounds have healed fully before swimming or bathing - usually after two week or so. Good Luck!

Thank you for your question.  Assuming an uncomplicated recovery, many patients can submerge their incisions 2-3 weeks after surgery.  You will likely still have some discomfort with motion of your chest muscles and arms and should refrain from any strenuous swimming or similar activities.  Talk to your surgeon about your plans, they can best help you determine if the timeframe is realistic for your expectations.  

I think that if you have a routine recovery, three weeks should give your incisions enough time to be safely be submerged in water. Of course, you will need to be evaluated by your surgeon post-operatively to make the final decision. Good luck!

If everything goes uneventfully and you heal well, you should be fine to submerge in water at 2 weeks.  However, I think it is always very risky to have only a short period of time (a little over 3 weeks) between surgery and a major event.  While surgery usually goes uneventfully, occasionally there can be complications that could put a damper on your cruise.  I would recommend you give yourself at least 6-8 weeks of healing time so that you will for sure be able to go in the water and swim.  Best of luck!

I allow my patients to shower in 2-3 days after breast augmentation.  But I do not recommend soaking in water until all of the scabbing is gone and the wounds are entirely sealed.

Thanks for your question.As long as your surgery and recovery are uncomplicated, you should be able to submerge under the water after 2-3 weeks post-op.  However, your implants may still be high-riding and not be fully settled.  In addition, you should not be able to perform heavy, rigorous activities/exercise for 6-8 weeks.Please check back with your plastic surgeon for his/her post-op recommendation.Best regards.
