I am interested in having a breast augmentation and possible lift. I have two children weighing 32 and 18 pounds. How long after surgery until I can lift them? I have read 4 weeks, but I cannot imagine a month without lifting my children and I don't love the idea of waiting years until they are older to have the procedure.
Answer: How Soon Can I Lift My Children After Breast Augmentation or Lift? It’s generally recommended to avoid lifting anything over 10–15 pounds for at least 4–6 weeks after breast augmentation and/or lift to allow proper healing and avoid complications. This includes lifting young children. That said, many mothers manage by planning for extra help during recovery. You don’t need to wait years—timing the procedure when you have adequate support at home can make recovery smoother and safer. Erman AK, Dr. MD, Plastic Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgeon

Answer: Lifting Typically you will have lifting restrictions in place for anything over approximately 10 pounds for four to six weeks after surgery. This does not mean you cannot care for your children at all, but rather you'll need some help for direct lifting. Speak with your surgeon about your concerns.

Answer: Surgery The breast augmentation and lift are still surgery and do require some time to heal and avoid lifting,. You will not be back to full activities for 6 weeks, and no lifting for at least 4. Perhaps your mother could come stay and help with your children. Or, wait until your children are a little older and can climb into the tub and car seat by themselves.

Answer: Ask your surgeon It depends on the post-op instructions that are given to you by your surgeon. Each surgeon has their own instructions so one could advise 4 weeks while another may advise longer. However, either way, you should expect to have some restrictions on lifting and physical activity for a certain length of time, and it could negatively impact your recovery and your safety if you don’t follow them. It would be a good idea to speak with your surgeon to find out what they advise, and then decide what to do from there.

Answer: Breast augmentation and lifting Dear Calm678771, I understand your concern. It is best that you consult your plastic surgeon regarding post operative care and management (i.e including massage techniques and timing) specific to your case. Your surgeon knows your condition well and has preferences on when and what to use for faster healing and recovery. Post operative care and management depends on the type of surgery performed and the technique used during surgery among other factors. It is best, however, that you follow your plastic surgeon's advice on post operative care management for a smooth and faster healing and recovery.
