Can I take diazepam before I get lip filler? (Photo)

Question

I'm going to get lip filler today and I'm getting really bad anxiety cause I'm scared of needles. Could I take a diazepam before I go, which is what my doctors prescribes me as I'm a really anxious person in general?

Hi there!
Thank you for your question. You may take diazepam prior to treatment as per recommendations by your GP. Avoid any blood thinners at least 1-2 weeks prior to treatment. I find when my patients are more knowledgeable about the procedure it reduces a bit of the anxiety they have.

If you have used diazepam in the past for anxiety then it is fine to use it prior to your lip injections.  I recommend discussing it with your injector prior to your appointment.  Often times injectors will use numbing creams prior to treatment to make you more comfortable.

I Know sometimes needles can cause anxiety, i have a lot of patients who does that. Benzo's can always help calm the nerves before the treatment. If you have experience with the treatment you can take a small dose 1 hr before your treatment and it wont be any problem with it. Best luck.
