I have a rippling under my chin after lipo on 2/16/19. Is it normal? (photo)

This is almost certainly simply swelling that will resolve with time. I will sometimes injector the area with some kenalog at the one month appointment to help it go away more quickly.Good luck as you heal!!!

Thank you for your question! I recommend my patient to wear the compression garment for 4 weeks after surgery. Apparently is simply swelling that will resolve with time. Please visit a massage therapist near you with expertise in treating patients after liposuction and begin treatment right away.

We typically have a pretty comprehensive follow up and massage program for our liposuction patients as this is an important component of the treatment. For submental or also called chin liposuction patients will wear a compression garment selected for them preoperatively for 24 hours a day except to shower for the first week and then just at night for another 2 weeks. Garments are essential but in my opinion massage therapy by an experience lymphatic expert is even more critical. I start my patients on daily massage therapy 24 hours after the surgery. I think this helps to get a better final result, add comfort to the patient’s recovery, spot problems early on as they happen, and are essential with helping with nerve sensation which can be quite problematic if the patients are not getting aggressive, early, frequent massage. At this point I could seek out a massage therapist near you with expertise in treating patients after liposcution and begin treatment as soon as you can and then wait for at least 6 months for things to soften before deciding if you need further liposuction.

 Unfortunately patients often do not appreciate the importance of follow-up after surgery. The correct answer and thing to do is to follow up with the Doctor Who performed your procedure.  Real self as a poor choice as a substitute.  At this point you simply need to wait until you see your final results.
