It's been 11 days since chin Lipo. I understand it could take several wks for results but is this normal to still look like I have a double chin and is it going to get better? I'm not so sure if this is swelling. I'm 39 and have good elasticity in that area. I'm worried I'm not going to have good results. It was this same size at 4 days post op also. Here are some before Lipo and 11 days post op pics I've posted.
Answer: Chin lipo Thank you for your question. You look just as you should this early in the healing process. The swelling usually peaks at about 2 weeks and you almost look worse than before surgery, then it will gradually start to come down. Hang in there!

Answer: Chin Lipo Thank you for your question and pictures. Swelling is very normal. 11 day it’s way too early to make a judgement. The swelling usually peaks at about 2 weeks . You need to wear a compression garment for about 2 weeks. Follow with your plastic surgeon. Good Luck, Dr Quiroz

Answer: Contouring Procedures Take Time You're concerned because everything we see in the media shows amazing results in half an hour. Please give this time before you go making judgements. What you are looking at now is a work in progress, NOT a result. I happen to do a LOT of chin and neck work and I tell my patients to imagine that procedure is still happening for 3 months or so...because it is! There are changes happening every day - whether you are able to notice them is a separate issue, but they go on for a few months. Over the course of time the swelling in your neck will dissipate and your contour will improve.Good Luck!

Answer: Still swollen You're definitely still swollen 11 days postoperatively. I tell my patients that swelling typically peaks around 4-5 days after liposuction and slowly improves after that. Final results typically take at least 3 months and sometimes longer before the swelling is gone and internal scar tissue has had a chance to soften and mature. You may find some temporary improvement by undergoing lymphatic massage. I recommend all liposuction patients have at least 1-2 lymphatic massage treatments beginning 1 week postoperatively. I also recommend wearing compression garments whether the on the body or in your case on the neck for 1-2 weeks postoperatively. Range of motion exercises are also encouraged after neck surgery in order to avoid scar bands that can occur subcutaneously. If after 3-6 months you're still not satisfied with the results you should definitely discuss your concerns with your surgeon.

Answer: Too soon to judge results from liposuction generally take 3 to 6 months to be final. 11 days it's way too early to make any judgments. Try waiting at least 6 to 8 weeks before comparing results. Based on your pictures you're most likely have mild microhnathia or a small jaw bone in relationship to your midface bone or the maxilla. Patients with this skeletal imbalance often have an overbite as well. If you could pinch a half inch of fat or more before the procedure you were most likely have a great results. Be patient. Best, Mats Hagstrom M.D.
