I bought a Leonisa posture bra to wear post-op, but I also want to wear my padded front closure sports bras as well. Do I need to remove the padding, or is it okay to leave in? The nurse told me I needed something a little tighter that pushed my breasts together slightly & the surgical bra they initially provided for me didn’t have enough compression to do so. I’m also currently wearing a band 24/7.
Answer: Bra restrictions Thank you for your question! For my patients having a breast augmentation, my only bra restriction is no underwire bra for the first 6 weeks post op. Padding is ok, as long as there is no underwire rubbing in the incisions. I recommend discussing specific post op instructions with your plastic surgeon. Best of luck!

Answer: Breast Augmentation Post-op Hello and Great Question. I appreciate the time you are spending researching this procedure. My name is Dr. Matthew J. Nykiel. I am a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, a Fellowship Trained Cosmetic Surgeon, and a Cosmetic Breast Augmentation Specialist. As each surgeon will have his/her own post op instructions I recommend to my patients to wear the postoperative bra that is given to them the day of surgery for at least 3 weeks after surgery. We will let them know when it is appropriate to wear a loose fitting sports bra; typically this is around 3 weeks after surgery. We advise to our patients not to wear a bra or any material that manipulates the position of the implant or breast; or puts pressure on the implant or breast, i.e. push-up bras, underwire bras, padded bras, etc. With that said, I recommend that you schedule a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon follow his/her recommendations. I hope that helps! Best of Luck! Matthew J. Nykiel, MD #CoreAesthetic Breast Augmentation Specialist Board Certified Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Post Breast Augmentation Bra Every surgeon has their own recipe for after surgery. I would encourage you to ask your surgeon. My protocol is to wear a soft, non cupped bra for the first 6-8 weeks roughly depending on how things are looking. We see out patients rather frequently to see how everything is progressing. I allow my patients to resume full activity after 4 weeks. At that time they can wear a good sports bra to the gym. Most of my patients start wearing a regular underwire bra at 6-8 weeks. Some may be sooner some maybe later depending on what was done during the surgery.Hope that helps.

Answer: Post Op Bras to Wear Hi laylalove426, I understand your concern. However, every surgeon has a specific technique or management on how to go about wearing post-operative bras, as this would depend on various factors including the type of surgery, the size of implant, and the technique used during the surgery among others. It is best that you discuss your concerns with your plastic surgeon and follow his or her advice on the best options available for you. Answer: Bra Every surgeon has his/her preference of surgical bras--what type and for how long. Some depends upon what type of implant you have and whether it was placed behind or in front of the muscle. Please ask your surgeon's office what his/she prefers, and follow that advice.
