I am having a tummy tuck in 2 weeks time. I quit smoking 9 weeks ago but had 2 cigarettes 2 days ago. I really regret this and it won’t happen again. Also my mum smokes out of her bedroom window. I live with her. Will this effect me ?

Answer: Tummy tuck and smoking Hello and thank you for your question. The answer to your question is yes, smoking of any form prior to and after surgery can impact wound healing. In my practice, I require my patients to be nicotine/drug free 4 weeks before and 6 weeks after surgery. This will ensure optimal postoperative results. Good luck.

Answer: Tummy tuck and smoking Congratulating on quitting smoking! The two cigarettes you had two weeks prior to your surgery should not impact you as long as you do not have any more. I encourage you to discuss it with your surgeon. It is important that you have open and honest communication for optimal results.
