Thank you for your question and supporting photo. You can get liposuction if you have stretch marks. However you seem to be a better candidate for a tummy tuck. This procedure will address excess skin and muscle laxity in the abdominal area. The abdominal wall will be tightened and excess skin and fat will be removed from the lower abdomen. Stretch marks and scars will disappear below the belly button leaving you with a flat stomach.
The short answer is YES, you can get lipo if you have stretch marks. Stretch marks indicate a decrease in skin quality especially elasticity. This means that skin contraction / shrinkage is limited. If you have fat to take, then your end result is a smaller version of the current you. The skin excess will still be there but you'll be smaller. You're a good candidate for a tummy tuck but I understand if you don't want to entertain that surgery due to the scars, pain, and downtime.
Hello and thank you for your question. Based on yourphotograph, you have significant skin laxity and you are a better candidate for a tummy tuck with liposuction. This can be done through a low and shortincision, all completely below the bikini line. The belly button can be designed to look natural and have no scars onthe exterior. Your muscles can also beplicated resulting in a flat abdomen. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures ofreal patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluatetheir results. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you arecomfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualifiedboard-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person.Best wishes and good luck.Richard G. Reish, M.D.Harvard-trained plastic surgeon
Thank you for your question. Based on your photo- you would really benefit from a tummy tuck. Stretch marks are often an indication of very stretched skin that has lost its elasticity. Liposuction will not treat the skin laxity but will really only remove extra fat, and leaving loose skin behind. Best to speak to a board certified plastic surgeon for an in person evaluation. All the best,
Liposuction works best on patients who are of relatively averageweight, but who need help with a problem area, or with shedding the ten poundsthey regain between diets. If you have good skin quality, minimal sagging andstretch marks, you make an ideal candidate for liposuction.People who have especially slack skin in their midsection needmore than what liposuction alone can offer. Typical candidates for a full tummytuck are women with drooping abdomens after pregnancy, women and men who'velost a great deal of weight, menopausal women, or older people with loose skindue to age. In the tummy tuck, the skin from the rib cage down to the pelvicarea is tightened, and the navel is moved up and secured in a new position. For people who don’t want surgery CoolSculpt is now an option tohelp reduce fat in selective areas. The CoolSculpting fat-freezing procedure isthe only FDA-cleared, non-surgical fat-reduction treatment that uses controlledcooling to eliminate stubborn fat that resists all efforts through diet andexercise. After CoolSculpting, treated fat cells that die are naturallyeliminated from the body. This process is not as rapid as invasive procedures, such as liposuction. Typically, the most dramatic results are seen in 1-3months after treatment. I suggest making anappointment with a board certified plastic surgeon for consultation to discussyour options.
Hello Vera You can perform a liposuction, but that does not guarantee that you will lose the stretch marks, the chances are that the stretch marks may be even more noticeable after a liposuction.Streaks, once they appear, can not be corrected with these methods. After a liposuction, these marks will change shape and contour, but will not disappear. That is, it is not possible to correct these superficial irregularities with a liposuction. The most recommended is that if you already have children you perform a tummy tuck and you will get better results, but it is important that before making any decision you consult with a certified plastic surgeon who can give you the best orientations.I Wish You Good Luck, Dr. Manuel Ventura Certified, Medical Research Institute of Plastic Surgery in Sao Bernardo do Campo, Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Dear Vera, Thank you for posting your photo with your interesting question. It appears that you have some stretch marks and some loose abdominal skin. Yes, you can have liposuction; however, the real question is: What kind of post operative abdominal contour result you are expecting. Assuming that you are not planning on future pregnancies, a tummy tuck will remove the loose skin with stretch marks below the belly button, tight loose abdominal muscles, if necessary, and tighten your loose abode skin. I recommend that you have a consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who is experienced with liposuction and tummy tucks. At the time of your consultation, you will have an examination, discuss your goals, have all of your questions answered to your satisfaction, see dozens of the plastic surgeons before and after results and determine which procedure will give you the optimal results. Best wishes, Dr. Richard Wellington Swift
Hi, thanks for sharing your concern and photos with us! First I want to congratulate you for making this important decision. Deciding to get an aesthetic procedure to change your body and get a new life style is a big step! Looking at your photos I might say that you´ll be a great candidate to get an entire back, waist and flanks liposuction, with BBL, and tummy tuck, this is because all the extra skin located in this areas plus your abdominal muscle needs to be repaired. Before all this, of course, you need to get a complete medical evaluation and laboratory exams to check everything is fine. For us your safety, always, is going to be first. Have a great day! Dr. JPG
Lipo does not treat the stretch marks and will not make them better. They usually do not make them worse either.
Yes. In fact, you should get High Definition Liposuction with Cool Helium Plasma Skin Tightening which will tighten up your stretch marks and loose skin. The Cool Helium Plasma Skin Tightening must be used in conjunction with VASER Liposuction to completely melt and remove the fat and Power X Tools to shave out the fat to create contour and sculpt your body. You will have incredible results with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon that has experience with these techniques.
