I had labiaplasty 15 days ago and all has gone fine but today I have noticed (what I think is my bartholin gland ) and inflamed lump on the entrance of my vagina. I have tried to take a clear picture but it's difficult with the healing wound. What should i do? As a hot compress will be sore on my wound!
Answer: Bartholin cyst after labiaplasty That lump might be an enlarged bartholin gland, but it would require direct examination and palpation to confirm. If the bartholin duct was transected at surgery, the gland will not drain on it's own. If it enlarges further, it will place tension on the labiaplasty scar and interfere with healing. If it is tender or if you are febrile, it will need to be treated by drainage. See your surgeon promptly.

Answer: I think you're right I think your diagnosis is exactly right, though it could be a mucocele from the closure. Either way, the treatment will be slightly uncomfortable, because you should at least have it drained with a needle poke in clinic. I would put a topical numbing cream on the area first an use a small needle to inject local anesthetic, then a larger needle to aspirate the fluid. If it comes back, at some point you may need another surgery to remove the cyst. Sorry you're experiencing this. See your doc.

Answer: Infection after Labiaplasty? Check with your surgeon. It's important that the person who did your surgery be the one caring for you afterward (or someone covering his patients). For more information about labiaplasty, click on the link belowAll the best.

Answer: Is this swelling at the vaginal opening a Bartholins duct cyst? Your labiaplasty recovery looks wonderful, and-yes- I see the fulness you mention. Hard to say for sure from a photo, but it does look like a Bartholin's duct cyst. As it is nice to have a diagnosis prior to recommending treatment, I would recommend you visit your Gyn prior to therapy. At 2 weeks post-op, warm sitz baths won't hurt, but please visit your doc to confirm.Best,Michael P Goodman MDDavis, CA
