How can I get rid of the cyst above my eye? (Photo)

I've had a tiny little lump above my forever, it's never bothered me. Until recently after shaving my eyebrows it started to swell. I went to the doctor and she proscribed a topical cream, only I don't think it's working. Two days and no change. I'm a bit frustrated. Any advice. Thank you Anita

You definitely need to see an OCULOPLASTIC surgeon for evaluation. The lump could be a number of things and it could be infected. Topical medication will NOT help.

At a minimum you should be examined by an ophthalmologist.  It is unlikely that a cream will resolve this.  You may have an inclusion cyst.  Ask your primary care physician for a referral.  Alternatively, Los Angeles County/Harbor UCLA Medical Center provides excellent medical care and has an ophthalmology service as well.

You have some sort of a cyst in the lid which can be surgically excised.  You probably now have an infection in the cyst.  The cream you have will not help this.  You need to take some antibiotics.  Once the inflammation has decreased the lesion can be removed.

Anitarun,This could be any of a number of things based on the picture, unfortunately a topical steroid cream which you were prescribed won't help any of them. The cyst will need surgical treatment.  Your surgeon will want to evaluate you in person as well as get an imaging study.  If it has recently enlarged after shaving it may becoming infected.  Given the proximity to your eye I would recommend getting it looked at as soon as possible.  Best of luck,Cody Koch

There are several things that can present like the lump you have - if this has been present since childhood and slowly growing it most likely is a dermoid cyst.  however, there are other things which we can't tell without more history or examination (is it hard, soft, mobile, etc).You need an imaging study (MRI or CT depending on what this feels like) in preparation for surgical removal.DrH
