How can I fix my uneven lip after lip filler? (photos)

Question

I had 1ml of juvederm put in my upper lip and 1ml of restlyn silk in my lower lip 3 days ago. The swelling has gone down drastically and now I notice my upper lip is very visibly uneven. There is a lot more product on the left upper lip compared to the right. What are my options to fix this? Should I use Hyaluronidase to remove the excess on the right? Can it just be messaged to even it out? I really don't want to had more filler because I prefer the more subtle look of the upper right lip.

Thank you for your question and photographs.  I can see from your pictures your area of concern.  Though three days is quite early to assess your results, I would recommend some massaging to soften and improve the asymmetry.  I would also allow a full 2 weeks to pass before judging your results, as this will allow your  swelling to resolve and your true results to be evident. At that point correction can be pursued.

It is common to get swelling after fillers into the lips.  It is not normal to have irregularities or severe swelling.  If you are unhappy you should speak to your physician and have the area injected with hyaluronidase, an enzyme that reverses the hyaluronic acid filler.  For the next injections, consider Restylane Silk with cannula injection, this technique will limit the pain, swelling or bruising after the filler placement.  It often takes up to two weeks for swelling to subside on its own.  Find an expert in filler injections for your future treatments.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Thanks for the question and photos. Gentle massage can be helpful. Do give it another week or so to let some of the swelling go down. If there is still an asymmetry, contact your physician and he or she may be able to even things out with massaging, a conservative touchup, or dissolving of some of the filler with hyaluronidase. 3 days is still pretty early and you may still have some swelling. I would give it 2 weeks. If it is still uneven after that then you can either add more product to try and even things out or use Hyaluronidase to dissolve it.

Thank you for your question. You can apply cold compresses to the area to help reduce swelling and bruising.  It is common to have some swelling after fillers for lip augmentation which can take up to 2 weeks to resolve. It is also advisable to avoid any NSAID’s before and after treatment as they tend to thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising and swelling.
