You need a cosmetic dermatologist who specializes in acne scarring/pigmentation and does a combination of treatments including: surgery, subcision, or TCA cross for deep or pitted "ice pick" scars; fillers like Bellafill or Sculptra or Radiesse for broad "boxcar" or "rolling" scars; Eclipse Micropen for all types of scars and improvement in texture and tone; lasers such as co2 laser resurfacing or Fraxel/Clear+Brilliant or radiofrequency such as Sublative or Viva to improve the scars and give long term collagen production. There are many options but you want someone who can customize a regimen for your short and long term goals based on your individual situation. Best, Dr. Emer.
I would not recommend Juvederm or Radiesse for minor acne scarring. While Juvederm Ultra (not Ultra Plus) could be used and should last 9-12 months but likely longer for a minor scar, I would instead recommend a product such as Belotero that can be injected even more superficially and works very well for minor acne scars. All products are temporary, but when injected into scars that are not remade by facial movement, you should get a longer outcome from the product. Best of luck!
For superficial scars, Restylane or Restylane Silk® are the current gold standard because they can be placed very superficially without causing bumps. In a very mobile, dynamic area such as the skin around the mouth, most fillers last approximately 6 months, on average. Since filling superficial scars/indentations is an advanced procedure, please consult a board certified aesthetic dermatologist for an evaluation.
Juvederm! Juvederm is a clear product which is great for acne scars whereas radiesse is white. With acne scars you need a product that allows for the flexibility to be placed both deep and superficial which juvederm can. Since it's clear it yields a far better result than radiesse. You should expect results to last about one year.
Bellafill is the only filler approved for acne scarring. It will last at least 5 years, probably permanent.
I generally ask patients to not massage filler in the first 2 weeks. Sometimes the initial swelling may seem like there is too much or too superficial placement only to find that it is perfect once it "settles in". If the filler has been there awhile and you like it then massage will...
Yes. You are waay too young for a cosmetic procedure. Your face is changing and there really is not a cosmetic procedure that is appropriate for a 14 year old.
These need a combination approach with lasers, radiofrequency tightening and fillers. Often Sculptra is also used to tighten and lift. Please see a cosmetic dermatologist with experience in facial rejuvenation for an evaluation. Best, Dr. Emer.
