Is age 14 too young for lip augmentation (Juvederm)?

Any discussion about the applicability of a procedure to a minor requires parental or guardian consent. However, unless there was some form of congenital malformation that called for volume augmentation of the lips, it would generally be considered too early for aesthetic purposes.

Thank you for your question.  In my opinion, 14 is too young to have a lip augmentation.  Allow yourself a few years time to fully mature physically and psychologically before pursuing any cosmetic surgery procedure.  

Yes. You are waay too young for a cosmetic procedure. Your face is changing and there really is not a cosmetic procedure that is appropriate for a 14 year old.

The short answer is 14 is too young for cosmetic lip augmentation. There may be reconstructive indications: patients who have deficient lips after cleft lip repair, and other patients who are dealing with craniofacial issues. However, I can't think of any cosmetic procedure that is appropriate for a 14 year old.

I recommend waiting unitl you are 18 to decide if you would like to have Juvederm for aesthetic purposes.

If there is a medical reason for the procedure, then it is reconstructive and still require parents to be involved.if this is for cosmetic reasons, My advise is to put the money towards your education

You NEED parental consent in writing to have any medical procedure whether it is rhinoplasty or Juvederm lip injections!!!!!

Well we do do nose surgery on 14 year old patients at times so I suppose there are candidates fir lip augmentation also.  My youngest patient ever was 19.  On under age patients we require q full exam and advice from the family's pediatrician.   I am sure there are cases of congenital lip under development that would justify Juvederm but so far I have not encountered one.   Trauma and cleft lift patients are in a totally different category.   My Best,  Dr C
