Can I go ahead with my surgery after taking pre op meds?

Pepto Bismol should not pose a problem with your surgery in 19 days.  Most likely your surgeon provided you with a list of medications to avoid.  This is most critical in the 14 day period before your surgery and for a period of time after surgery as well.  If you have any question check with your surgeon.

In our practice, Pepto-Bismol is not one of the medications we warn our patients against before neck lift.  If you're concerned, check with your surgeon's office.

Dear Mhurd,   Sorry for your panic attack, but you can relax. In my 28 years of plastic surgery practice,   I provide the patients with a diet sheet to follow 2 weeks before surgery. The list includes all the medication, supplements and foods that can interfere with the good outcome of surgery or complicate the anesthesia. So, since you took it 19 days before surgery, you are well within the safety time period before surgery. Taking Pepto-Bismol 19 days before surgery should not be a problem. Remember that Pepto has aspirin on it, so you should not be taking it 2 weeks before surgery.Hope this helps,Dr. Gus Diaz,Double Board Certified in Facial Plastic Surgery

Pepto-Bismol should not have any negative effects concerning a facelift in 2 weeks. Best always follow  Your physician's directions. 

Before surgery you should avoid for 2 weeks the following items.   All NSAIDs such as Advil, all aspirin, all herbsl prreparations, fish oil, and vit E.   There can be a long list of no take meds but just remember you can  Tylenol and nothing else except drugs approved by your doctor.   My Best,  Dr C
