Plastic surgery scars require attention after surgery so that they remain cosmetically-appealing and barely noticeable. In our office, we use a protocol for scars that minimizes their activity in the 6-8 weeks after surgery. If you have late plastic surgery scars, you may also require laser and RF therapy to help reduce the longterm effects of the scarring. Keloids, hypertrophic scars, widened scars, red scars, and hyperpigmented scars all require scar modulation with topical creams followed by lasers and RF therapy. Topical skincare should be directed to a specific need, whether for pigmentation or hypertrophy and our office can guide you through the process to obtain the correct Plato’s Scar cream or Melarase cream for hypertrophy and discoloration. In terms of lasers, we would employ the vbeam laser for redness, Venus Viva RF, PRP microneedling, chemical peels, and Morpheus 8, fractional erbium, or fractional co2. All of these have their individual benefits. Most of all, we recommend you visit a solid plastic surgeon who understands surgical scar revision, laser therapy, and RF therapy for scars.

Hello, actually it depends on how long did it ake after your operation. Generally we need to see the 1st year result to comment on scars, if it is normal or requires additional scar revision?

Thanks for your question! It would be helpful to know how far out from surgery you are. I would also suggest addressing your concerns with your surgeon. It's possible that a scar revision or some minor fat grafting might be necessary. Good luck!

I wouldn't worry about it now and make sure everything heals well, but at 12 months I would see your surgeon again to see if it needs to be revised.

That area should change quite a bit over the first year, but if you still have some problem with the shape at the 12 month mark I would see your surgeon to see if a revision can be performed. It is my guess that it can be and you will likely need something done but give it time and make sure you are massaging the scar with silicone to help soften it.

After surgery there may be contour irregularities such as puckering or folds.  These should smooth out over the first few months after surgery as the tissues heal.  Without knowing how far you are from surgery it's difficult to give an opinion on your healing.  I encourage you to discuss your concerns with your surgeon.
