Miradry procedure for buttock crack is not yet available. The company is working on technology for sweating of hands and feet next.
This is a question I hear a lot in my practice, which is located in Florida. Unfortunately, miraDry can only be used for underarm sweat. While the company is developing the technology for use on hands and feet, it isn't currently available.
Miradry is currently only FDA approved to treat hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) in the armpits. I do not recommend treating other parts of the body, as this could result in serious complications. They are working on a separate tip to treat the hands and feet, but this has not yet been approved. For now, Miradry should only be used to treat sweating in the armpits.
MiraDry is recommended for the axillae only. To my knowledge, it has not been used for the buttock region. Best of luck
MiraDry is currently FDA cleared in the U.S. for the underarm area only. Best Regards,
Hi, thank you for your question! Miradry is not currently FDA approved for that area of concern. Miradry is used for the underarms.
MiraDry is used to reduce underarm sweating. An 82% reduction is seen with one treatment. We have additional ways to streamline treatment as well.
Thanks for your question. I wish I could tell you it was safe and effective for the buttocks area, but at this time there is no FDA approved protocol (treatment instructions) for using it in that area. You would not want to take a chance on damaging the skin and nerves in that area, so please check with your dermatologist to see if that area becomes available in the future.Best of luck!Dr. Paul
Theoretically the off tissue in that area would be similar to the under arm and could be treated. However, it is not approved of this area. There is also one other thing to be aware of and that is there is always some swelling involved so your buttock would be pretty sore. Also, subcutaneous tissue scarring can occur and probably always does to a very small degree otherwise it woulan't work. Since that happens in the underarm area it usually goes un-noticed. In the buttock however, maybe it could change the tone and shape of the butt in a negative? Hard to say.Stick with Botox for that area for now.Chase Lay MD
Thank you for your question. According to the FDA, miraDry is approved in the United States for use of axillary hyperhidrosis (underarm excessive sweating). Unfortunately miraDry has not been approved by the FDA for use in other areas of the body. Use of electromagnetic energy technology has been used safely in other areas of medicine for years. Established medical uses of electromagnetic energy include applications for cardiology, cosmetics, general surgery, urology, and oncology. Miramar Labs is the first company to gain FDA clearance to use electromagnetic energy to combat excessive sweating of the underarm (by eliminating or damaging sweat glands) using miraDry.While miraDry is great news for those who suffer with underarm sweating, odor, or hair removal, the device is not yet "approved" or optimized for use to treat excessive sweating of other areas such as buttocks/crack area, hands, feet or face. Feasibility studies of a smaller device for use on non-underarm areas are currently underway and we will be sure to let you know by our website of any further approved uses or approved devices that come about in the future.Best Regards, Sincerely,James Fernau, MD, FACSBoard Certified ENTBoard Certified Plastic SurgeryMember of ASPS, ASAPS, ISAPS, The Rhinoplasty Society, AAFPRS, OTO/HNS, ASLMS, International Federation for Adipose Therapeutics & Science
In general, as long as skin is intact and there are no open sore or cuts then it’s safe to proceed with your miraDry procedure. Sincerely, Stewart Wang, MD FACSBoard Certified Plastic SurgeonMedical Director, Wang Plastic Surgery & Med Spa
