I have been suffering from Hidradenitis Suppurativa for half a year. Would miraDry help?

This issue is currently begin studied and not enough is known about the effects of miraDry on this condition. You could try this off label, but the treating doctor would not have any data to discuss with you about effectiveness.

Thank you for your question. While miraDry does eliminate the eccrine and apocrine glands, it has only been tested and approved for use in cases of hyperhidrosis. Some doctors may use it off-label to treat conditions like yours, but there is no guarantee that it will work. Your best option is to talk to a board certified plastic surgeon or board certified dermatologist who is familiar with your condition and can recommend the best avenue for successful treatment. University studies for Apocrine destruction with MiraDry is best conduct at no charge to the patient as this is off label.  You are indeed correct, Miradry non selectively destroy eccrine an apocrine glands - the later implicated in HS. At this level I have encouraged University studies or private practice subsidies from the company for research. Bottom line, in Countries like Australia, the focus is NOT on patient care, nor advancement of science but how many devices the distributor can sell. Despite pleas to have this treatment subsidised, miraDry Asia Pacific and their head distributor Laser Consulting under Mr Miravoi, will not engage into further studies. I hope the US and other countries pick up on this to extend the use of this devices, and not solely engage in distribution of devices for profit.
