I had an open rhinoplasty about 7 weeks ago but my nostrils looked uneven right after surgery and it still does now. My nostrils were slightly uneven before surgery but they now one of them is much flatter and wider than the other one which is more taller and longer? I had my bridge narrowed, a base reduction and tip tefinement using septal cartilage. Are my new nostrils permanent? Will I need refinement? I dont want to go through another surgery, so do I keep waiting? Will it get better?

Answer: 7 Weeks Post Rhinoplasty Seven weeks post op is still really early on in the healing process. It can take up to a year for all the swelling to go down especially in the tip. I know it's hard but try and be patient as you will continue to heal and see changes. If you are still unhappy after twelve months I would recommend following up with your surgeon.

Answer: Revision of ala for asymmetry Some asymmetry of the ala after they are reduced is very common. Typically, it is really only seen when looking from below, holding a mirror (or camera) low to see it from an angle that others rarely see. This is important, because if one is happy with the changes from the frontal view, and profile, it may be best to simply accept some assymetry as an acceptable tradeoff of having surgery. Othertimes, there are additional reasons to intervene and it can make sense to do so. For now, consider being patient, perhaps using nasal stents (for example, in the smaller, narrower side) to help the healing tissues for a few months minimum.
