Thank you for your question and photos. The issues you’ve described are some of the most common reasons people turn to laser hair removal. It’s not uncommon for shaving, tweezing and waxing to result in ingrown hairs, bumps and other types of skin irritation. I recommend consulting with an aesthetician at your local medical spa about getting laser hair removal. Laser hair removal can disable the hair follicles so they stop producing hair, and while you may require a touch-up treatment once a year, it’s a far more permanent solution than shaving. Good luck!
Hello, thank you for your question and for including a photo. Laser hair reduction is a very effective treatment for this area if the hairs have pigment in them. Looking at the photos, it appears that the hair follicles are quite dark. Laser hair reduction is a series of treatments, usually 6-8 treatments done 4 weeks apart in this area. Again, the procedure is called laser hair "reduction", it is impossible to guarantee 100% hair removal in the treated area, it may be necessary to do touch up treatments periodically. Once you rid the area of hair follicles, the skin will become much more smooth and even and the folliculitis should also subside. I would recommend that you find a board certified dermatology office for safest treatments.Good Luck!

You should be able to do laser hair removal without any problems. There would be no contraindication to this. The scars can be addressed by using another type of laser such as a CO2 laser (we use the lumenis accupulse). Sometimes we combine this with microneedling and PRP. The lasers used f...
Hidradenitis is a lifelong problem that can be addressed with laser hair removal, biologic therapy, immune modulating therapy, surgery, and IIT SC. Therapies should follow an established protocol to prevent recurrence. Once scars have formed, a combination of skin brighteners and Kenalog IIT...
The reason you were instructed to only shave was because the laser needs access to the hair so that light travels down it and delivers its energy to the follicle. When shaving, hair is still accessible at the surface. Other methods remove it below the surface. If you have no plans to...
Thank you for your question. Alexandrite laser is a 755 nm wavelength. Mostly used for skin types I-III. There are couple of companies that make lasers with this wavelength. My office uses Cynosure Elite MPX dual wavelength technology suitable for all skin types. This is...
