I received Kybella injections last November 2016, and since then have had difficulty swallowing. If feels as if there is rubbing when swallowing at my throat, which is more pronounced when I am laying down. My regular doctor has conducted test for any issues related to my thyroid and found nothing of concern. I tried to reaching the dermatologist who gave me the injection and she has since moved on and the office would not provide me a reason why. Any advice will be appreciated.

Answer: See a Doctor for a Formal Evaluation--Difficulty swallowing after Kybella This is difficult to answer without an in-person evaluation. It is unlikely that Kybella is causing difficulty swallowing long term. However, if it persists, I recommend following up with a Doctor for a formal evaluation. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Kybella Dear pjmex,it is hard to tell without an examination. I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.Kybella typically takes 3 to 5 treatments to work. This is why I've stopped carrying Kybella in my office. I recommend neck liposuction more often then any injectable procedure for the neck now. It provides superior results gives me more control over the area than any injectable. The liposuction can be done under local while awake in the office and recovery is about the same as kybella.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am.
